Oschadbank received the Green Trade Deal of the Year award for 2023 in the Energy Efficiency category during the Trade Facilitation Program (TFP) award ceremony at the Annual Meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) held in Yerevan on May 14, 2024.
The EBRD annually recognizes banks that support the transition to a green economy. The award was given to Oschad and DZ BANK for the implemented case of trade finance to support the import of energy-efficient equipment for the production of soy protein concentrate. This award recognizes Oschadbank’s significant contribution to the promotion of trade in green technologies and materials in the EBRD's regions of operation.
"Projects that implement energy-efficient technologies are extremely important for Ukraine, in particular because of the negative effects of the Russian military aggression on our energy system. According to EBRD estimates, the equipment financed by Oschad for the Astarta-Kyiv agro-industrial holding has the highest energy saving rate in the category based on the analysis of all transactions of EBRD partner banks in more than 30 countries. We are proud of our participation in this energy-efficient project, and we are grateful to Astarta-Kyiv for the partnership, and to the EBRD for the high appreciation," said Yuriy Katsion, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Oschadbank in charge of corporate business.
"The Astarta's team is grateful to Oschadbank and the EBRD for supporting the company's investment activities and our commitment to introduce advanced technologies and create value-added products in Ukraine. Together, we will be able to support our country's economy during the war and accelerate its post-war recovery," added Lilia Lymanska, CFO of Astarta-Kyiv.
"With this award, we are proud to recognize Oschadbank's exceptional commitment to promoting energy efficiency projects and developing green technology trade finance in Ukraine, in line with our mission to support the transition of EBRD regions to green, low-carbon and sustainable economies. We are grateful to Oschadbank for its role in facilitating the Astarta-Kyiv project and are awarding it the Green Trade Deal of the Year award for 2023 in the field of energy efficiency," said Jürgen Rigterink, First Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
