During the full-scale war, Oschad financed enterprises that support the country's food security for UAH 20 billion

This amount can be significantly increased, as, according to Yuriy Katsion, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank in charge of corporate business, the Ukrainian agricultural sector is developing at a revolutionary pace. This indicates, among other things, that the agricultural sector retains the ability to attract financing. On the other hand, this is the result of effective state regulatory policy and implemented mechanisms to support farmers.
However, during the expert discussion “Export of Ukrainian Agricultural Products: Challenges and Prospects for Producers” of the special project “EP-Chat” of Ekonomichna Pravda, Yuriy Katsion noted that there are currently not many investment projects on the market that are at the final stage of preparation, on the basis of which banks can conclude that they are ready to finance them.
“One of the main reasons for restraint in the implementation of investment projects is undoubtedly military risks. The inability to insure the investment object against the consequences of a major war by 100% holds back most investors. Another issue is the availability and cost of financing. We see the readiness of Ukrainian banks to lend to the agricultural sector, even to complex and expensive investment projects. However, not all banks like a project with a payback period of 8–10 years, most are used to working in a 3-5-year horizon. However, Oschad is ready to finance long-term projects,” emphasized the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank.
Oschadbank is a provider of all government programs for the agricultural sector. In addition, agrarians can use all financial instruments available at the bank: investment lending, working capital loans, leasing, and documentary transactions related to the supply of equipment. Lending can be provided in both national and foreign currencies.
“Supporting business and especially the agricultural sector is one of Oschadbank's top priorities in accordance with the new strategic program for the next 4 years recently approved by the Supervisory Board. An important focus of our work is to support enterprises that create added value for the economy and contribute to the inflow of foreign exchange earnings to the country, i.e. processing industry and exporters. These are the priorities we work on every day,” emphasized Yurii Katsion.
As of today, the volume of loan agreements concluded by Oschadbank with large corporate business companies in the agrarian, food and processing industries, and food trade segment exceeds UAH 4 billion in 2024. Over the entire period of the full-scale war, the bank has entered into loan agreements with companies in this segment worth about UAH 20 billion.
