With the support of Oschadbank, lecturers of the Banking and Insurance Department of the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (KNEU) will develop methodological support for the training course under the Ministry of Education and Science's Financial Literacy program for secondary school teachers. The project is being implemented with the support of the All-Ukrainian Foundation "Step by Step". Next year, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine will introduce a compulsory subject "Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy" into the 8th and 9th grade school curriculum — the implementation of this project will help to better prepare teachers to teach the new subject.
The project envisages that after the development of the relevant materials, the training will be piloted and then disseminated to secondary education institutions, parents, and stakeholders interested in promoting financial literacy among Ukrainian youth.
The training course will consist of four modules:
- Modern Money and Personal Finance;
- Banking System and Banking Services;
- Insurance and Financial Protection;
- Security and Financial C
Each module will include a theoretical part, case studies, test questions, and a list of additional references.
"We welcome the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to make financial literacy a compulsory subject for Ukrainian schoolchildren. Unfortunately, many Ukrainians have had to learn the basics of finance from their own mistakes, but this and other educational initiatives should make sure that this changes. We are grateful to the representatives of the flagship university in training banking personnel, KNEU, for their willingness to join forces with Oschadbank so that today's young Ukrainians, making a step into adulthood, can prevent losses from fraudulent schemes, carry out financial planning and achieve financial goals," said Sergii Naumov, Chairman of the Management Board of Oschadbank.
