The rehabilitation module has been opened in Ovruch, the Zhytomyr region, to provide free psychosocial and physical rehabilitation services to people affected by the full-scale Russian invasion. Veterans, women veterans, their families, and civilians can undergo comprehensive rehabilitation here.
To implement the project, the Mindy Charitable Foundation, the Coordination Center for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the NGO Bezbariernist, the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration and the Ovruch City Council, as well as Visa and Oschadbank, members of the Business Without Barriers community, joined forces. The project was implemented within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program "Are You OK?", which is being implemented at the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska.
This is the first facility created as part of a social franchise from the Mindy Charitable Foundation, a partner of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program, which provides for the development of a network of mobile rehabilitation modules in small towns and communities to make rehabilitation and psychosocial services available in every corner of Ukraine, not just in regional centers.
"We have been thinking and working a lot in this area before. And now that this module has appeared, we are working to ensure that it receives maximum support from us and helps people. Thanks to the head and first deputy head of the Zhytomyr Military Administration, we were able to familiarize ourselves with this project and implement it. On our part, I guarantee that we are doing everything and will continue to do everything to ensure that the military, their families, and victims of the war receive this assistance. And we will implement measures to expand hospital beds and capacities of both the module and this area as a whole," said Ivan Korud, Chairman of the Ovruch City Council.
"The restoration of people and human capital is a strategic task that should involve everyone: government, business, and the non-governmental sector. This project, which happened thanks to such synergy within the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska, is an example of bringing services closer to communities, even the most remote ones. This is a multifunctional barrier-free space where a person can recover both physically and psychologically, and it is very important that this happens simultaneously. And there is no need to go to the regional center. Because the service should be where a person lives, where it is convenient to receive it," noted Oksana Zbitneva, Head of the Coordination Center for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Head of the NGO "Bezbariernist".
"Today, Ukraine faces challenges in many areas, including how to recreate a sound social fabric of society. For challenges of this magnitude, it is necessary to attract the world's best practices and the most modern social innovations. The Mindy team, together with its partners, has launched a social franchise as one of the tools that can really help, even in times of war. We are confident that such tools are the future of a new, happy and successful Ukraine," said Bohdan Minenko, co-founder of the Mindy Foundation.
The mobile rehabilitation module is a modern technological barrier-free space assembled by the Unitfab company using a modular system and equipped with high-quality rehabilitation equipment and computer technology. The area of the module is 69 square meters.
The module is staffed by a multidisciplinary team consisting of a case manager, psychologist, physical therapist, speech therapist and representatives of partner organizations that provide various services.
The specialists help with physical rehabilitation, prosthetics, speech restoration, provide psychological support and legal counseling, and advise on education, retraining, and employment. In addition, the rehabilitation modules are integrated into the local healthcare system and NHS packages, strengthening the system of secondary long-term rehabilitation after the main treatment period.
To become a patient of the rehabilitation module in Ovruch, you need to go to the social franchise website and fill out an online form. After that, representatives of the module will contact the applicant, select a convenient time for a visit and accompany him or her throughout the rehabilitation process.
"Our assistance in creating a mobile rehabilitation module is not a one-time event. This is part of Oschad's new inclusive program "My Barrier-Free". Among other things, it involves improving the physical accessibility of our branches for people with disabilities, a new service model for servicing such customers, as well as veterans. Our branches will be staffed by special employees who will be able to advise demobilized Ukrainians on a much wider range of issues beyond banking services. We have planned and are gradually implementing improvements to our digital solutions, which make it possible to receive more and more financial services without visiting a branch. "My Barrier-Free", including today's opening, is Oschad's response to the challenges faced by the Ukrainian society during the full-scale war," said Sergii Naumov, Chairman of the Management Board of Oschadbank.
"As a company that strives to be accessible to everyone, everywhere, we want all Ukrainians to be able to realize their full potential, no matter what they face," commented Svitlana Chyrva, Vice President, Regional Manager for Ukraine and Moldova at Visa. - "We are pleased to support the opening of the mobile rehabilitation module in Ovruch, because we believe that scaling up the project will help create full-fledged rehabilitation conditions throughout Ukraine, from remote villages to de-occupied territories where all medical infrastructure has been destroyed. So that everyone can recover and return to a full life."
"Rehabilitation is an opportunity to return to a full life. In addition to physical recovery, the team that worked with me helped me overcome emotional and psychological difficulties," said Volodymyr Oliychuk, a veteran who is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
Prototypes of the rehabilitation modules are already in operation in Kyiv and Rivne. Due to the low production costs and speed of installation, this format of rehabilitation spaces can be scaled up across the country. Today, the production capacity of the social franchise is 40 modules per year.
