In September-December 2024, the Department of Banking and Insurance of the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (KNEU), with the support of Oschadbank, held a training course on financial literacy for teachers of schools, gymnasiums and lyceums.

This training is an important step in preparing educators to teach the new compulsory subject Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy, which 8th grade pupils will study in the 2025-2026 school year, and 9th grade pupils will continue to study in 2026-2027. The project allowed teachers to deepen their knowledge and prepare qualitatively for teaching the subject, which contributes to the development of a financially literate society.

The course consisted of four modules with a total duration of 60 hours of training sessions. As part of the pilot project, it was planned to train three groups of 15 participants each. However, more than 90 people registered in two weeks. The training participants were teachers from schools, lyceums, and gymnasiums from different parts of the country, including Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Odesa, and Kharkiv regions.

The trainings were held online, which allowed educators from all regions of the country to join them. Participants were able to choose the time of the training at their convenience, which was noted as an important advantage in the feedback. Based on the results of the training, participants received certificates of advanced training and methodological materials, including presentations, test tasks, practical cases and recommendations for solving them.

“The training course developed by the representatives of the flagship university for training banking personnel - KNEU - is a significant step towards the development of a financially healthy society. It has received a lot of positive feedback and aroused considerable interest from teachers, who were able to strengthen their knowledge and prepare to teach the subject, which this year became compulsory for Ukrainian schoolchildren. Thanks to this course, thousands of pupils across the country will learn how to make informed financial decisions, manage money rationally, save money, avoid fraud, set financial goals and work to achieve them. We thank KNEU for its cooperation and plan to continue supporting such projects. Popularization of financial literacy initiatives is an important area of Oschadbank's sustainable development programs,” said Sergii Naumov, Chairman of the Management Board of Oschadbank.
